STATUS

South-east Europe to central Asia. Monotypic.

OVERVIEW

Arrival in Britain is from May to October. Five have reached Scotland and four have appeared in Wales, although two were shared with Cheshire.

A new first record (early 2024) has been found after examinations of museum specimens.

English records are scattered far and wide, Northumberland to Cumbria down to Cornwall and across to Kent.

A black underwing colour is diagnostic for this species.
