STATUS

North America. Monotypic.

OVERVIEW

There have been three spring records, earliest 6th May and four winter records, three found in December and one in January, the rest occurred in the autumn from 23rd September onwards.

The first record wasn’t accepted until over 100 years later due to the belief that New World birds could not migrate as far as Britain. However, the relocation of the specimen aided its acceptance.
