Purple Gallinule
Porphyrio martinica (Linnaeus, 1766) (0, 3)
STATUS
Nearctic. Monotypic.
OVERVIEW
The first record was of an individual found lying in a gutter in Hugh Town’s main street by Miss M. Hughes on her way to work. She took it in and sent for a local birder who fed it earthworms but the emaciated body soon gave way (Robinson 2003).
